There is an acute shortage of skilled workers in just about every industry. This has been the situation for more than 20 years and the quick and convenient solution has been to import foreign labour. There is great demand for technical skills specifically in the area of engineering, manufacturing, telecommunications, renewable energy, oil and gas as well as information technology.
