


Located on the two large islands in the Mediterranean sea, Sicily and Sardinia, Italy is the sixth most populous country in the whole of Europe and twenty-third most populous in the world. Excavations throughout Italy have revealed a modern human presence dating back to the Paleolithic period. The much known period of 'The Renaissance' achieved it's epitome in Italy. The country also has a list of volcanoes to it's credit, three of which are active. Depending on the area, most of the inland northern regions of Italy, have a continental climate, however the other parts having a different climate making it a very diverse country. Italy is sub divided into 20 regions, five of these have a special autonomous status.
Education in Italy, has always been something to look out for, Italy's public education is free and compulsory from 6 to 14 years of age. Italy hosts a variety of universities, colleges and academics. Italy has been nominated 2009's sixth most internationally valued country. Italy boasts of a long period of different architectural styles from the classical to the goths, every thing has been well experimented, making the place a very palpable and unique place to be in. Italy became a main European center for the Baroque, which is an eminent architectural style. Rightly located in the 'Nature's Lap' Italy consists of several villas with formal gardens, also, Italy has the greatest number of “UNESCO World Heritage Sites”. Italy is also known as the birth place of Opera.
