1. Overview of the institution
The University of Queensland (UQ) is one of the prestigious Group of Eight Universities in Australia and falls within the top 100 universities worldwide. Founded in 1909, it is Queensland’s oldest and largest university and the fifth oldest university in Australia.
UQ stands proud of their outstanding alumni of more than 200,000 that include a Nobel laureate, an Academy Award winner, the CEO of a Fortune 500 company and various leaders in government, law, science, public service and the arts.
UQ’S strong focus on teaching and excellence has led to its winning several Australian teaching and learning awards.
2. Location and facilities
Queensland’s main campuses include St Lucia, Ipswich, Gatton and Herston. Accommodation is available both on campus and off campus. The university also provides the UQ rentals service that assists students in finding off-campus accommodation near various campus locations of the university. In terms of other general facilities, UQ conducts student workshops to enable a smooth transition to university life.
The university also offers counselling services for those who face challenges in settling, as well as a multi-faith chaplaincy which provides students the facility to practice numerous faiths and traditions.

6. Careers: Unique student support
As a part of providing students with career and employment support services UQ organises career planning consultations, information sessions, workshops and online resources on career topics, vacation work, graduate opportunities, internships and volunteer work, careers, sector and industry linkages. Students also gain experience in Career Development Learning (CDL) strategies involving résumé writing, interview and leadership skills, networking skills and presentation pointers.
In addition, UQ conducts employer and industry visits, seminars, and career events.
